Our story
In 2008, UCLA student Chuck Gordon was getting ready to jet off on a grand study abroad adventure in Singapore. The problem? He needed to store his stuff.
Chuck started poking around storage websites, thumbing through the Yellow Pages and calling every location in town. Frankly, it sucked.
That's when he and co-founder Mario Feghali got the idea for SpareFoot. They had one goal in mind: To make storage easy.
So they packed their bags, moved to Austin and began building the largest online marketplace for storage.
In the decade since, SpareFoot has merged with industry powerhouses SiteLink, storEDGE and Easy Storage Solutions to form Storable — the technology powerhouse in the self-storage industry. We’ve partnered with over 10,000 storage facilities to make storage easier for thousands of people.
As seen in:
SpareFoot by the numbers
Sparefoot.com customers have rented more than 95,000,000 square feet of storage area from 2008-2017. So, just how much space is that?
In terms of floor space, 95 million square feet is more than two and a half times Central Park in NYC, and
It’s the same area as 1,661 football fields.
But what about volume? Considering that the average storage unit is about eight feet tall, customers have rented more than 765,000,000 cubic square feet of storage space on SpareFoot. That is enough stuff to fill:
10 Alamodomes
20.7 Empire State Buildings
166 Titanics
The Lincoln Memorial Pool 850 times
13,197 General Sherman Giant Sequoia Trees
An average 40-foot shipping container has a volume of 2,377 cubic feet.
Sparefoot customers have rented enough space to fill …
322,019 containers
That many containers would require more than 30 modern cargo ships to carry, and
That’s enough space to fill more than 956,800 16 ft. moving trucks!
